IN SEARCH FOR THE PERFECT CURIARA (12 min)

A thousand years ago, the Amerindians living in the basin of Lake Valencia, paddled in the open sea from the mainland to “Los Roques” in “Curiaras” built out of a single tree trunk, an extraordinary adventure of more than 140 kilometers and 35 hours of continuous navigation. An enthusiastic team is ready to recreate these voyages, following advise from a group of scientist who follow project, but discovers with alarm that building the right “Curiara”, may be the biggest of its challenges, because this tradition is facing its imminent extinction, when the last "Moyotus", or artisans manufacturers of Curiaras die.
