Beyond the main specific projects in which we work, we have a menu of 12 other projects that we actively lead or promote, that have to do with issues such as water sanitation, promotion of the most needy communities, support for the training of youth trades, promotion of heritage and history events, etc.
And we are always in need of updating our audiovisual recording equipment, repairing a trailer, organizing an event, etc.
So you can simply choose to make a general donation and we'll let you know how we use it or you can select from the donation menu how you'd like us to use it.

So far the hull of the Piragua Margariteña “Fernando Cervigón” has been totally built and in her first Expedition we paddled her 170 km on the open ocean home to the Island of Margarita. The next step is to rig her with her original Latin Sail and sail on the three expeditions I have planned to demonstrate her seaworthiness and convince fisherman of her capabilities as a fishing boat.
She could also prove to be a valuable traditional ship for tourism operations.

The Orejeta could be branded as the younger sister of the Piragua Margariteña, with the enormous advantage that unlike the Piragua whose operation with its Latin sail is very complex and requires at least 4 crew members, the Orejeta can be crewed by a single person; The Sail is a “tarquina”, much easier to maneuver.
This would give us a very simple version for individual fishermen and at a third of the cost of La Piragua.
In the case of the Orejeta La Capitana, it was rescued just before being discarded to be used for cooking wood, which allowed us to recreate the new version keeping the original lines.

The Arawak Challenge 2024-26 project is a very complex expedition of about 100 days, 2000 kilometers of distance, about 400 hours rowing, touching 65 ports of 36 islands of 12 independent nations.
It is a meticulous planning exercise before setting sail and a tremendous adventure that requires excellent previous physical preparation and a very demanding training regimen aboard our Expedition Curiara.
We have calculated everything and made as realistic a schedule as possible.
The first option and the most economical in the long run, is to do the entire route in a single expedition.
The second option is to do it over 3 years.
Below I attach relevant information to this expedition including estimated budgets, use of funds, project description, route plan, management of both options.
I have also attached a link to the documentary Pasión Amerindia which is a good synopsis of the progress we have already made in pursuing this project. text goes here
